The CMA CGM Group recently announced the launch of its new China-Africa route, KILIMA, connecting the Far East with Kenya, Tanzania, and the Indian Ocean. The route aims to optimize operational efficiency and enhance the customer experience.


The port rotation for this route is as follows: Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Singapore, Colombo, Lamu, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Colombo, Singapore, Shanghai.

According to the announcement, the core advantages of the KILIMA route include:

  • Efficient transshipment via the Port of Singapore, connecting major Asian ports;

  • Calls at the Port of Colombo on both China-East Africa routes, enabling transshipment connectivity for cargo from India’s East Coast;

  • Coverage of more African markets through a specialized feeder network, providing direct access to inland regions such as Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia, Malawi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
